We visit Roots - the newest Mediterranean restaurant to enter Glasgow City Centre
1m
We visited one of the newest restaurants to enter Glasgow City Centre, Roots, located on Reinfield Street within the former site of Gin 71.

The venue is owned and operated by the previous owners of Mediterraneo in the Merchant City, as the Italian brothers seek to mould a new identity for this new project.

Established as a cocktail bar and restaurant, Roots offers an extensive food menu full of Mediterranean style dishes, serving an A La Carte and small plate menu.

Three of the Glasgow World team visited for lunch the other day - the other two had the two course express deal while I had a starter and main from the A La Carte and brunch menu - though it did all come to the same price.

Highlights for us were the pasta and paella - full of flavour and good portion sizes for the time of day.

They’ve centred their food offerings around locally sourced produce.

The staff were really friendly and professional and the building itself is stunning, a lovely environment to sit and eat a meal.
